Twain promises more depth

October 18, 1996

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- When your album sells 9.5 million copies worldwide, what do you do for your next album? Shania Twain says her follow-up to The Woman in Me will be much deeper and more heartfelt, but still fun and exciting. She says artists like Mindy McCready are taking the same tack she did, with sassy lyrics and more attitude than country women did before.

So, Twain says she and her husband-producer Mutt Lange are going to keep evolving and "go another step."

"It doesn't mean drastic change, it just means different -- different enough to still lead as opposed to follow." Twain says her new CD will likely be out during the first half of next year.
